µCross 3.0 was updated to Build 5. Latest addition is sopport for Qt Accessibility in Qt5 and µTIB 3.0-12 which comes with minor improvements and a new function to clear the package cache.

µCross 3.0 is available!

After some delay, lots of work and a complete actualisation of all software packages, the new version 3.0 of our Embedded Linux distribution µCross is finally available.

Get an overview about the latest improvements:

• Comprensive rework and improved image-builder µTIB
• Completely new software package compilation, based on the latest stable Yocto 1.8 release
• Several new toolchains. The toolchains are now delivered as self installing packages.
• Support for QT5
• Improved documentation and several sample projects
• Available architectures: ARMv5TE (z.B. Kirkwood, PXA3xx, TMPA9xx), ARMv7A (z.B. Allwinner, OMAP3 + OMAP4, i.MX5 und i.MX6)
• Available with softfload and hardfloat ABI

The new release µCross 2.0 is available!

The new release 2.0 of our distribution comes with excessive updates and enhancements in combination with proven to be good components from the previous release.

• Improved image-builder µTIB
  • Improved support for input and console devices
  • Simplified support for updates
  • Support for more modern PC Linux distributions as development system
  • Improved language support

• Enhanced toolchains including GTK+3

• Various software updates, e.g. GDB, Busybox, udev, iproute, PHP, GTK+, SQLite, Boost, Qt X11 and Qt/E

• Additional applications and libraries, e.G. Octave, Gnuplot, Chillispot, OpenSCADA, net-snmp, webcam-server, xinput-calibrator, xautomation, Ghostscript, Apache Web Server, libmodbus, OWFS

• Available for ARMv4T (e.g. S3C2xxx), ARMv5TE (e.g. Kirkwood, PXA3xx, TMPA9xx), ARMv7A (e.g. OMAP3 + OMAP4, i.MX5 und i.MX6), x86 and MIPSEL

For additional architectures (e.g. PPC, ARMv6, SH4) are available on request

• Simplified licensing model for ARM architectures - only one license covers all ARM architectures.

• Extended and improved manual

The new μCross Release 1.5 is available!

Large parts of the distribution have been updated, the manual has been extended and the μTIB Image Builder has been improved.

In detail:

• The μTIB Image Builder has been revamped. In addition to a more structured user interface, it now offers:
  • a GUI editor for file systems
  • the ability to create meta-information about the file system
  • automatic generation of a source code archive matching the created file system
  • support for time zones, and localization
• Updated cross-toolchain based on GCC 4.5
• Support for ARMv6: All packages are available for CPUs based on the ARM11 core too - still supported architectures: ARMv4T, ARMv5TE, ARMv7A, MIPSEL 32, PowerPC and i586/Geode. Additional architectures are available on request!
• New software in the distribution: for example Midori, PCSC-lite, GnuPG, FLTK, QWT, xinetd and ClamAV
• Updated and extended manual (e.g. boot-time acceleration)

Due to the high demand for µCross we have created a distributor's program and are proud to be able to announce the first two distribution partners! We proudly announce that the first µCross release is ready and available!

The first release consists of the following components:

• Pre-compiled binary packages (applications and libraries) for all supported architectures
• A set of cross development toolchains
• µTIB - the µCross Target Image Builder for fast and easy creation of filesystem images for your target device
• A printed manual with lots of background information

This release is the start of a regular release interval with one release every six months.
